Every plant you photograph is collected and analyzed by scientists worldwide, enhancing our understanding and preservation of plant biodiversity.Pl@ntNet empowers you to identify and learn about various plants in nature, including flowering plants, trees, grasses, conifers, ferns, vines, wild salads, and cacti. While it can also recognize many cultivated plants found in parks and gardens, its primary focus is on cataloging wild plants. Pl@ntNet encourages users to inventory plants found in natural environments, as well as those growing in urban settings, such as sidewalks and vegetable gardens.
To achieve the most accurate identification, provide Pl@ntNet with as much visual information as possible. While many plants may appear similar from a distance, subtle details often distinguish species within the same genus. Focus on capturing clear images of flowers, fruits, and leaves, as these are the most characteristic organs. However, other details like thorns, buds, or stem hairs can also be valuable. A photograph of the entire plant or tree can be helpful but may not always be sufficient for reliable identification.
Currently, Pl@ntNet can recognize approximately 20,000 plant species.
