Site Editorial Commentary:Network diagnostics like Ping, DNS, WHOIS, HTTP, Traceroute, SSL scan and more!
Ping & Net offers comprehensive network information and diagnostic tools. It allows you to ping servers (via ICMP over IPv4 or IPv6 and TCP), perform DNS lookups (with geographical IP address lookup), conduct reverse DNS lookups, exeCute WHOIS queries, inspect HTTP response headers, and trace routes (also with IP address geo lookup). You can also check if a range of ports is open, scan a host for SSL versions and ciphers, perform Path MTU discovery, look up host locations, check internet reachability, and determine the risk associated with an IP address. Furthermore, it displays detailed information about the device's current network setup and connection, including netstat information. The "Wake on LAN" functionality enables you to remotely wake up machines on your network. The optional "NetSentry" feature monitors network interfaces and alerts you when usage limits are nearing breach.
The app includes a home screen widget for long-running pings and a Wake-on-LAN widget for waking a specific host.
Recently used hosts, IP addresses, and DNS servers are saved for convenient auto-completion.
Results can be easily copied (via long-click on the output text), shared via email, or stored in a file as text or PDF. A history of recent operations is maintained for easy access (swipe left and right to switch between tabs).
Numerous options are available, such as using an alternative name server, setting Ping TTL, displaying ping times for each traceroute step, Broadcast Ping, using HTTPS, setting the HTTP port number, and selecting DNS record types to query.
The app is ad-free, ensuring an uninterrupted user experience.

Regarding the gps permission: GPS access is only utilized if the "Show Location" checkbox is enabled in the Ping Options dialog. This checkbox is disabled by default, ensuring that your location is not tracked unless you explicitly enable it. Location tracking is useful for measuring ping times during long-running pings across large areas, such as factories or university campuses. After completing a long-running ping with location enabled, a Google Earth file (.kmz) is generated, displaying ping times along with the geolocation of each ping. This option is not necessary for most users. Location data is stored locally on the device and is not sent or uploaded anywhere (except when you attach the Google Earth file to an outgoing email, in which case you control the email's destination). Negative comments in the Play Store regarding this permission are therefore unfounded.
