Key points to consider:

1. **Location Settings:** In the "My Location Settings," users can choose between automatic location detection via their smartphone or manually designate their "My Location" on the map. This selected location will be displayed on the main page and within "My Weather Report." If your location cannot be determined, "My Location" will default to the last successfully found location or "Hong Kong Observatory." The meteorological data shown for "My Location" or added stations comes from nearby weather stations and may not always be from a station within the same region. If data from nearby stations is unavailable, data from the Observatory's headquarters, King's Park, or Star Ferry will be used instead, indicated by the symbol ▲ to the left of the update time.

2. **Notification Service:** The app's notification service, which includes weather warnings, Location Specific Heavy Rain Information, and Location-based Rain and Lightning Forecast, relies on Google Firebase Cloud messaging (FCM). The Hong Kong Observatory cannot guarantee the prompt or successful delivery of push notifications through the app. Users should not depend on this app as their sole source of critical weather information. Depending on network conditions and the quality of the user's mobile connection, notifications may take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes or longer to arrive after being issued by the Observatory.

3. **Data Usage:** While “MyObservatory” is a free app, users will incur data charges from their mobile network provider for data usage. These charges can be substantial when roaming. Ensure that “Data Roaming” is disabled in your mobile device's settings to avoid unexpected costs.

4. **Weather Variations:** Due to differences in topography, altitude between weather stations and the user's location, and potential inaccuracies in the mobile device's estimated position, users should be aware that the weather information displayed in the app may differ from actual conditions experienced at their specific location.

5. **Time Synchronization:** The clock displayed on the app's main page automatically synchronizes with the Observatory's Internet Time Server, and it may not match the time shown on your smartphone.

6. **Battery and Data Usage:** Utilizing Location-based Rain and Lightning Forecast notifications and Location-specific Heavy Rain notifications will slightly increase battery consumption and data usage. Users who wish to conserve battery life can enable these notification functions during rainy days or before outdoor activities and disable them during sunny days or after completing outdoor activities.

7. **Automatic Notifications:** To ensure users receive important weather updates, such as weather warnings, Special Weather Tips, and location-based rain and lightning forecasts, “MyObservatory” will automatically send notifications based on user-defined settings.
