RPGAD: An Educational Role-Playing Game

RPGAD is an innovative educational application developed by a research group focused on collaborative educational digital games. This project builds upon research from the "Network Society, Cultural Plurality, and Digital Content" research group at UNEB - Universidade do Estado da Bahia, which is dedicated to creating educational digital content for various educational settings.

RPG, or Role-Playing Games, originated in the United States in the 1970s and later expanded to Brazil. Scholars recognize the pedagogical potential of RPGs due to their inherent characteristics such as collaboration, cooperation, and interdisciplinarity, despite their initial purpose being entertainment.

RPGAD offers a unique approach to learning through collaborative storytelling. Players can choose from thirteen different themes, register, create their own game as a Master, or join a game created by another Master. The application promotes active participation from both teachers and students.

In this application, players are invited to choose one or more of the thirteen available themes, register, create a table to be a master, or play as a character from a table created by another master.

The content is delivered through challenges integrated into the game's narrative. As players engage with the game, they acquire knowledge related to the chosen theme. The game's strength lies in experiencing the story through character interpretation, decision-making, and problem-solving, mirroring real-world scenarios.
