Aegis Authenticator is a free, secure, and open-source authenticator app designed to manage your two-factor authentication (2FA) tokens for various online services. It enhances your online security by providing a robust solution for generating and storing one-time passwords (OTPs).

**Compatibility**
Aegis Authenticator supports both HOTP and TOTP algorithms, which are industry-standard and widely adopted. This ensures compatibility with thousands of services that support Google Authenticator and other similar apps. You can seamlessly integrate Aegis with any web service that offers Google Authenticator compatibility.

**Encryption and Biometric Unlock**
Your one-time passwords are securely stored in an encrypted vault. It is highly recommended to set a strong password, which will encrypt the vault using robust cryptographic methods. This prevents unauthorized access to your OTPs, even if the vault file is compromised. For added convenience, Aegis supports biometric unlock, allowing you to quickly access your OTPs using fingerprint or facial recognition if your device has a biometric sensor.

**Organization**
As you accumulate more online accounts, Aegis Authenticator provides comprehensive organization features to easily manage your entries. You can set custom icons for each entry, making them easily identifiable. The search functionality allows you to quickly find entries by account name or service name. Additionally, you can group your OTPs into custom categories like Personal, Work, or social for streamlined access.

**Backups**
To prevent the loss of access to your online accounts, Aegis Authenticator offers automatic vault backups to a location of your choice. If your cloud provider supports the Android Storage Access Framework (e.g., Nextcloud), you can even create automatic backups to the cloud. Manual vault exports are also supported.

**Seamless Switching**
Aegis Authenticator simplifies the transition from other authenticator apps by offering import functionality from various popular apps, including Authenticator Plus, Authy, andOTP, FreeOTP, FreeOTP+, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Steam, TOTP Authenticator, and WinAuth (root access might be required for apps without export options).
