This system comprises a compact, separately purchased hardware dongle and a set of free, user-friendly mobile applications. Together, they provide wireless DMX and RDM control capabilities, along with other essential lighting functions, directly to your smartphone. DMXcat addresses a common challenge faced by users of modern lighting equipment: how to efficiently power on and test DMX lighting gear without the need for a complex lighting console.

**Software Applications:**

The DMXcat system includes seven versatile applications:

* **DMX ConTroller:** A single universe (512 channels) DMX controller with two intuitive user interfaces (sliders and keypad).
* **Fixture Controller:** Control multi-attribute fixtures effortlessly using a built-in database.
* **RDM Controller:** Facilitates bi-directional communication and control of RDM-enabled devices.
* **DMX Tester:** Analyze and adjust settings for both transmitting and receiving DMX signals.
* **DIP Switch Calculator:** Simplifies the configuration of DIP switches used for setting DMX addresses.
* **Light Meter:** Useful for setting light levels, particularly for on-camera applications (requires a device with a light sensor).
* **RF Spectrum Analyzer:** Survey and visualize Wi-Fi networks in the 2.4GHz spectrum.

**Hardware:**

The DMXcat hardware interface is a pocket-sized, battery-powered device designed for ultimate portability. It easily fits into a pocket, tool pouch, or can be worn on a belt. It utilizes Bluetooth LE technology for seamless communication with the smartphone applications, offering a range of up to 50 feet. This wireless capability allows users to move freely throughout their workspace while running the apps and maintaining communication via their smartphone. The device features a five-pin XLRF connector/cable assembly for easy connection to a DMX data chain, enabling testing and control of various DMX/RDM functions. It is charged using a standard USB to Micro-USB cable and charger. Additional features include a built-in LED flashlight, an audible alarm for locating the device, an XLR5M to XLR5M Turnaround, a clear LED status indicator, and a removable belt clip with a split ring safety point. Optional accessories include XLR5M to RJ45 Adapter, XLR5M to XLR3F Adapter, XLR5M to XLR3M Turnaround, and a Belt Pouch.
