Isn't it annoying not knowing how much money is left on your travel card?
Sure, you can log in online and sometime 24-48 hours later the balance is updated (unless it's a long weekend, then it takes even longer), or you can look for a Bus/Tram/Commuter train/Terminal and use the card reader. None of the options are perfect... With ResSaldo, you get the balance directly on your phone.

Please note: The new green SL cards do not contain any information; all data is stored by SL in the "cloud" - i.e., the app cannot read anything useful from these cards.

Travel companies use a rather old standard for cards. This means that some phones cannot read these cards. The app will therefore not work on these models. This includes, among others, Nexus 4, 5, 6, 7 (2nd gen), Nexus 10, Galaxy S4 series, Galaxy S6 series, Galaxy S7 series, LG G2, and more.

How to use the app:
1. Make sure NFC is turned on (Settings > Wireless and Networks)
2. Start the application
3. Hold the card against the *back* of the phone; the app automatically identifies the travel company when it reads the card!

How does the app work?
With ResSaldo, you get the balance directly, and it is updated immediately after you validate your card. The app shows: balance, card validity, time of last validation, last time for transfer, and detailed information about the last trip/validation. Exactly what information is displayed varies slightly between different card types and trips.

What technology does the app use?
The app uses the NFC reader found in most Modern Android phones and reads the card using the same technology as the card reader on Västtrafik Vehicles.
The application only *reads* your card. As with all other technology, there is naturally a risk that something might go wrong, but using the application does not pose a greater risk to your card than other external NFC readers you may encounter in your daily life.

Finally, the application is not official and has no connection with the travel companies. I am responsible for all errors and shortcomings. Use it at your own risk. (And one might think that the various travel companies should have built a corresponding app a long time ago, but unfortunately, they have not.)
