Amedas Widget is a free and convenient weather widget app that displays Amedas images, radar images, weather satellite images, and typhoon information directly on your home screen.

Tired of basic weather forecasts? Want to know exactly where it's raining or the current atmospheric pressure? This app provides up-to-date weather information images in a widget format, giving you instant access to critical weather data. Simply tap the widget to view images and animations detailing current weather conditions.

The radar and Amedas images display your current location, allowing you to see at a glance if it's raining nearby. Customize the widget by using the "Set" button to adjust the display position and size of the image.

Battery consumption is a concern with frequently updating widgets. Amedas Widget is designed to update only when the home screen is displayed or upon waking from sleep (Android versions below 5.0). This minimizes unnecessary updates and conserves battery life.

This app caches and displays image data from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

Important notes:

* Android 14: After updating the app, the widget may not appear. Restart your smartphone and wait a while, then turn the screen ON/OFF.
* Android 9, 10, 11, 12: Issues with updating or widget unresponsiveness may occur. Launch Amedas Widget from the app list to refresh the widget.
* Placing the Amedas Widget app icon next to the widget allows for quick reactivation of the service.
* OPPO smartphones: The widget may not update with the default home app. Consider using a third-party launcher like NOVA Launcher.
* Some satellite images (4-split, hemisphere) have been removed due to the JMA ending public availability. Please use the global images.
* Android 4.4.2: A bug may prevent proper updating. Update to Android 4.4.3 if possible. If not, installing and launching the ServiceKeeper plugin app may alleviate the issue.
* If the widget stops updating or performance degrades, try the following:
1. Tap the widget, press "Set," and then "OK."
2. If tapping the widget doesn't launch the app, launch Amedas Widget from the app list.
3. Remove and re-add the widget.
4. Uninstall and reinstall the app, restarting your device in between.
5. Disable task killer apps.
* Screen lock apps may interfere with updates. Contact us with the name of any incompatible screen lock apps.

How to Use:

After installing the app, add the widget using one of the following methods:

A. Long-press on an empty area of the home screen, select "Add Widget" from the menu, and choose your preferred size of Amedas Widget.
B. Open the app list, tap the "Widgets" tab, and add your preferred size of Amedas Widget.
(Widget placement methods may vary depending on the manufacturer and home app. Refer to your device's manual for details.)

In the app, display your desired image and tap "Set." Then, drag and pinch on the map to adjust the display position and size. Use the zoom buttons in the lower right corner to change the display range. Press "OK" to place the widget on your home screen.

Permissions:

To minimize unnecessary internet access, this app only updates when the home app or screen lock app is displayed. Therefore, it requires the "Retrieve running applications" permission to obtain the names of these apps and check if they are running.

Radar and Amedas images can display your location, requiring the "Approximate location (network-based)" permission to obtain location information.

Menu Button:

On some devices, the menu button may not appear. In such cases, long-press the back button to access the menu. You can also enable a permanent menu button from the menu itself.
