The highest bidder wins the auction, chooses the trump suit (palo del pinte), and leads the first trick.

After the auction, gameplay proceeds like traditional Tute. The auction winner must achieve their bid, while the other two players team up to prevent them from succeeding. The auction winner can declare sings (cantes) after winning a trick, starting with the '40' sing if they have multiple sings. The winner of the final trick collects the 10s from the discard pile.

Scoring occurs at the end of each round. If the auction winner meets or exceeds their bid, they score the points. Otherwise, their opponents split the bid points. The first player to reach the target score wins the game.

Staying true to the original game, Tute Subastado by Don Naipe avoids shuffling between rounds to create more varied hands, with long suits and voids being more common. The minimum bid is set at 60 points, and rebidding is disabled to encourage strategic bidding: underbidding can often lead to losing the auction or missing out on potential points.

Tute Subastado is currently available in single-player mode. The AI opponents have been meticulously designed, with high-level bots bidding strategically and playing expertly, both as the auction winner and as defenders. Intermediate-level bots bid more unpredictably and don't always optimize their play. Lower-level bots offer a more accessible challenge, bidding with less precision and playing more predictably.

The game features a cast of Don Naipe's signature characters, including Ramona, Jero, Lucio, Icecube, and Manolito, along with a variety of humorous phrases to enhance the gaming experience.
