MAME4droid is an Android port of iMAME4all (originally for Jailbroken iPhone and iPad), both developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco). It's based on Nicola Salmoria and TEAM's MAME 0.37b5 emulator and incorporates elements from Franxis' GP2X, WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5.

MAME4droid allows you to emulate a vast library of arcade games, primarily those supported by the original MAME 0.37b5, with the inclusion of select games from newer MAME versions.

This version boasts compatibility with over 2000 different ROM sets, offering a wide range of retro gaming Experiences.

Given the extensive game library, it's important to note that performance can vary significantly. Some games will run smoothly, while others may exhibit performance issues or may not run at all. Please do not request support for specific games.

Users with older Android devices should temper their expectations regarding performance. To enhance performance on these devices, consider the following tips: reduce sound quality or disable it entirely, use 8-bit color depth, underclock the CPU and Sound CPUs, and disable stick and button animations, as well as smooth scaling.

After installation, place your MAME-titled zipped ROMs in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms folder.

MAME4droid, like iMAME4all, exclusively uses '0.37b5' and 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11 mame romset'. To convert ROM sets from other MAME versions to the compatible ones, utilize the "clrmame.dat" file located in /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/ with the ClrMAME Pro utility, available at: http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/

MAME4droid does not support "save states" due to its foundation on a MAME version that lacks this feature.
