Brevent operates based on a user-defined list. Only apps added to the Brevent list are subject to its control. When an app is launched and subsequently closed (e.g., by tapping the Back button), Brevent will place it in app standby. If an app remains in standby for a specified duration or is removed from the recent apps screen, Brevent will automatically force-stop it. Furthermore, Brevent proactively force-stops apps that are running without any active user interface.

For apps where you need to receive notifications or perform background synchronization, Brevent offers an "allow sync" setting. Apps with this setting enabled will not be placed in standby mode, and Brevent will not force-stop them as long as they are actively displaying notifications or running in the background.
