Metal Detector is an Android application that detects the presence of metal nearby by measuring the magnetic field value. This useful tool utilizes the magnetic sensor built into your mobile device to display the magnetic field level in μT (microtesla). The typical magnetic field level (EMF) in nature is approximately 49 μT (microtesla) or 490 mG (milligauss); note that 1 μT = 10 mG. When metal is in close proximity, the magnetic field value will noticeably increase.Metal Detector enables you to identify metal objects in your surroundings by leveraging the fact that all metals generate a magnetic field. The strength of this field can be measured using this application.
Using the app is straightforward: simply launch it on your mobile device and move the device around. Observe the magnetic field level displayed on the screen, which will fluctuate dynamically. The colorful lines represent the three dimensions, and the numbers displayed at the top indicate the current magnetic field level (EMF). As you approach metal, the chart will show an increase, and the device will vibrate and emit sounds to alert you. You can customize the sensitivity of the vibration and sound effects within the settings.
Potential uses for Metal Detector include locating electrical wires within walls (functioning similarly to a stud finder) or identifying iron pipes underground.
