The description of Biblia Takatifu - Swahili Bible

Site Editorial Commentary:The Holy Bible in Swahili (English Version)

Biblia Takatifu ya Kiswahili (Swahili bible) contains both the Old Testament (Agano la Kale) and the New Testament (Agano Jipya).

The Christian Bible is a collection of sacred texts in Christianity. These various writings have long been referred to simply as "books," as implied by the word "biblia," which is the plural of the Greek word "biblos," meaning "book."

It is distinguished from the Tanakh, which are the sacred texts of Judaism and which may also be referred to as "Bible," especially in Hebrew Bible editions. Its books are contained in the first part of the Christian Bible under the name "Old Testament."

The Christian Bible is divided into two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament contains writings written before Jesus Christ, and the books of the New Testament were written after him.

Old Testament
Essentially, the books of the Old Testament are the same as those of the Hebrew Bible, although Christian denominations differ slightly in this regard. At the time of the emergence of Christianity, there were differences within Judaism regarding the books considered sacred texts. This issue was resolved starting in 80 AD when Jewish scholars in Jabneh (Jamnia) took a strong stance against the followers of Jesus.
At that time, Christians were already accustomed to the Greek version of the sacred texts translated in the 2nd century BC, known as the Septuagint, which contained several books that had not been preserved in the original Hebrew or Aramaic languages, or were written directly in Greek.
Thus, the Christian Bible had 7 books (two of Maccabees, Joshua son of Sirach, Wisdom, Tobit, Judith, and Baruch, along with parts of Esther and Daniel) that were later rejected by the Jews.

These 7 books were later rejected by Martin Luther in the 16th century, and then by many Protestants, but they continue to be used by the Catholic and Orthodox Churches under the name Deuterocanonical books.

New Testament
There are 27 books in the New Testament. The first four are the four Gospels, which bring news of the life, deeds, and words of Jesus.
The others are the Acts of the Apostles, the Epistles of the Apostles, especially the Apostle Paul, and the Revelation of John.

This Swahili Bible app provides a clear and accessible way to read and study the scriptures in Swahili. Enjoy features like Offline access, verse search, and customizable reading plans to deepen your understanding of the Biblia Takatifu. Perfect for daily devotionals, Bible study, and sharing the Word of God with others.
